Mandrels 


 
There are two types of mandrels 
  1. Forming mandrels designed for forming various sizes of tubes, or used while working on reeds.
  2. Working mandrels are used if the plaque is obstructed by the forming mandrel.
 
 
Small Forming Mandrel   
Corresponds to a bassoon mandrel.  Made of nickel-plated steel with a wooden handle.  Tapers from 7/32" to 1/8" dia.  Can be used for baroque oboe;  ss, s, a, t, (some) b shawms;  s, s, t, (most) b dulician;  baroque rackets and bassoons;  (some) bagpipes. $13.50
 
Medium Forming Mandrel 
Made of nickel-plated steel with a wooden handle.  Tapers from 5/32" to 1/4" dia. Can be used for b and gb shawms;  b dulician;  baroque rackets;  ss & s rauschpfeife;  s, a, t cornamuse/crumhorn/kortholt;  t racket; s & a sordune. $14.25 
 
Large Forming Mandrel 
Corresponds to a bassoon mandrel.  Made of nickel-plated steel with a wooden handle.  Tapers from 7/32" to 3/8" dia.  Can be used for t, b, gb cornamuse/crumhorn/kortholt;  a & t rauschpfeife;  quart & contra rackett;  t, b, gb sordune; (some) b shawms;  s, s, t, (most) b dulician;  baroue racketts and bassoons;  (some) bagpipes. $14.50 
 
Small Working Mandrel  
Corresponds to a bassoon mandrel.  For use with plaques.  Made of turned aluminum with wooden handle. $12.00
